Afghan President Babrak Karmal has said again that Soviet troops will remain in Afghanistan until all conspiracies against his country have been eliminated, Radio Kabul reports. But he said Sunday that Afghanistan would remain nonaligned, and he appealed to Muslim guerrillas to lay down their arms.

Radio Kabul, monitored by the Press Trust of India news agency, said President Karmal declared that Soviet troops would remain in Afghanistan until "plots and conspiracies of regional reaction, imperialists, and expansionists are eradicated forever."
