February 12, 1980

Roots and all, covering any bare spot, finding its way through thickets and under thorns, always softening the edge of the path. Your feet know it, this low one -- hidden among grass, between the mint roots and all -- it grows year in, year out on a low hill where the day spends itself in peace and the woods hold the laughter of children; where heaven in all its blue fell from the sky and laughs from the water -- mt1, hidRoots and all -- from a place of peace.
