Reporters let into hearing on stories about A-mishap

A judge rejected a plea Monday by the operator of the Three Mile Island power plant to bar reporters from a court hearing about articles on last year's nuclear accident, dismissing claims that sensitive security information would be disclosed. Dauphin County Judge John C. Dowling allowed the news media and access to a hearing in which Metropolitan Edison Company sought to stop publication of articles about alleged lax security at the crippled nuclear plant.

The articles, set for publication Tuesday, were written by a reporter for a local weekly, the Guide, who breached security at the plant by getting a job as a guard and sneaking a camera inside.
