January 31, 1980

Police investigating last week's guerrilla attack on a Pretoria bank have made several arrests, Police Minister Louis le Grange announced Wednesday. Three black gunmen, who said they were members of the outlawed African National Congress, raided the bank Friday, demanding a large ransom and freedom for political prisoners. They were shot and killed by police who stormed the building, and 2 of their 25 hostages also died.
