Los Angeles art museum names its new director

Earl A. Powell III, executive curator of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, will join the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as director in the spring. DR. Powell, to be the museum's third director since its opening in 1965 , was chosen after a lengthy search by the board of trustees. Dr. Powell has a degree from Harvard University and is an art historian specializing in European and American art of the 19th and 20th centuries.
