Japan plans to work out Iran sanctions this week

Prime Minister Masayoshi Ohira decided Monday to work out Japan's basic policy on economic sanctions against Iran by Friday, when the Diet (parliament) session reopens, informed sources said. Mr. Ohira discussed US-proposed economic sanctions against Iran and the Soviet Union with Foreign Minister Saburo Okita, chief Cabinet secretary Masayoshi Ito, and other officials, they said.
