January 22, 1980

In 1979, 4.3 million square feet of space in new office building was leased in New York City, more than twice as much as in 1978. But New York was still a distant second behind record-breaking Houston.

In that city 8.6 million square feet of new office building space was leased, and another 8 million was still available, according to a report by Julien J. Studley Inc., a New York real-estate consultant and brokerage firm.
