Police in Kenya begin Adamson murder inquiry

January 8, 1980

Kenya police are treating the death of naturalist Joy Adamson as murder, and three people are helping them with inquiries, the Voice of Kenya radio news said Monday. The radio quoted Police Commissioner Ben Gethi as saying it was believed the 69- year-old naturalist had been murdered.

First reports said Mrs. Adamson was killed by a lion last Thursday night at the remote bush camp where she was studying the habits of leopards.

The radio Monday quoted President Daniel arap Moi as saying that certain facts about the death had come to light and a full investigation was launched.
