Ken Makin

Ken Makin is a writer and podcaster from Augusta, Georgia. After attending Florida A&M University, Ken began his journalism career in Aiken, South Carolina, as a sportswriter in 2004. He started his “Makin’ A Difference” podcast after a short radio stint in 2015, with a focus on politics and community concerns. Much of his work explores issues around police brutality and racial protests.

Ken debuted with The Christian Science Monitor with his commentary on “The Forgotten King,” an exploration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s evolving ideology, including his commentary on social class. He has since written for the Monitor on topics of Black reparations, labor rights and the intersection of athletes and activism, among other topics, with a noted historical flair.

Ken is married, has two sons, and currently resides near his native Augusta, Georgia.
