WikiLeaks reveals 5 Arab countries concerned about Iran

At least five Arab countries are keeping a wary eye on Iran, as revealed in the classified US documents publicized by whistleblower website WikiLeaks.

The New York Times, the first US media outlet to have access to the cables, cited several communications between US diplomats and Emirati officials that revealed distrust and concern about Iran. One cable quotes Emirati military leaders describing Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as “unbalanced, crazy even.” Another quotes Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed telling US Gen. John P. Abizaid in 2006 that action against Iran was needed “this year or next.” The UAE is one of the most developed countries in the Middle East and holds vast oil reserves. Of UAE citizens, a large majority are Sunni (but a majority of UAE residents are not citizens).
