5. My local branch is under review. What's next?

Customers can provide feedback on proposed closings through surveys and a public meeting. The district will use that feedback, plus additional data on a branch's performance, to determine whether or not a closing is warranted.

If a post office is approved for closure, it is posted at the office for a 60-day comment period before a final determination is made at headquarters. If the closing is cleared, customers can appeal the closure with the Postal Regulatory Commission.
