Two Kenyans have sped through the Boston Marathon faster than any other competitors in their divisions. Margaret Okayo set the women’s record in 2002 with a time of 2:20:43. The year before, she finished first in the New York Marathon, where she holds the record of 2:24:21 for the fastest women’s run.

Geoffrey Mutai's 2011 run of 2:03:02 is the fastest ever for the Boston Marathon. He beat the record set last year by fellow Kenyan Robert Kiprono Cheruiyo by nearly three minutes.
