William Shatner interprets the Twitter poetry of Sarah Palin

Master thespian William Shatner.

"Time DOES fly! Work hard so u can genuinely enjoy every recreation minute! Avoid time spent tearing down, whining, complaining;WORK & ENJOY."

No, that's not the work of Alfred Lord Tennyson. Nor did this lush rhyme spring from the pen of Shakespeare: "RdTrip7 hrs wKid Rock/Martina McBride/Big&Rich/Grtchn Wilson/Billy Currngtn/Hank/Toby/VanP/Blk I P's/Greenwd/Straight/etc&USO artists=heaven."

Actually, both pieces of verse were tweeted by Sarah Palin, who recently stepped down as governor of Alaska. Palin's Twitter feed, which favors chock-a-block verbiage, and an utter disdain for established rules of punctuation, is extremely popular among conservatives. Among liberals? Not so much.

Well, thank goodness for actor William Shatner, who has agreed to translate Palin's work for all of America – red state America, blue state America, and everything in between. On Monday, Shatner performed the former Alaska governor's resignation speech, with the help of a bongo drum and an upright bass. Last night, he returned with a spoken-word rendition of Palin's best tweets.

"From sealife near lush wet rainforests to energy housed under frozen tundra atop permafrost,God most creatively displays His diversity in AK," Palin once announced. A lovely enough sentiment, but wait until you hear Shatner inject it with some real rhythm. (Note: the video below plays Shatner's interpretation of the resignation speech.
