First Look Dramatic rescue frees Canadian-American hostages held by Taliban group

A combined effort by the United States and Pakistani governments freed an American woman, her Canadian husband, and their three children after being held captive for five years in Pakistan.

Five years after they were seized by an extremist network in the mountains of Afghanistan, an American woman, her Canadian husband and their children – all three born in captivity – are free after a dramatic rescue orchestrated by the United States and Pakistani governments and have left Pakistan, officials said Thursday.
