Monitor opinion series on poverty wins award
| New York
In March, The Christian Science Monitor published "An end to poverty: new hope for the last billion poor". On Sept. 13, it won the award for "Best Series" at the annual Association of Opinion Page Editors conference.
The Monitor was praised for devoting space in a presidential election year to the often-ignored issue of extreme poverty. The judges commended the series for its depth, and for its creative and constructive ideas to bring lasting change to the planet's poorest people. Heartfelt thanks go to series author Mark Lange.
