Father's Day gifts may generate a little more boost to the economy this year. Americans will spend an average $106.49, slightly according to a survey by the National Retail Federation. That would be the largest amount in at least eight years. Sure, you can always buy a power tool. In these tough times, however, dads might appreciate something that's equal parts flair and frugal. Here are five unusual Father’s Day gifts for less than $25, which could make June 19 especially memorable.

Flower and gift basket companies that traditionally rake it in on Mother’s Day have come up with some ideas for Dad, too. While Mom might be happy with a simple bouquet of flowers, appropriate Father's Day gifts might revolve around snacks, preferably the salty variety, especially if they’re fishing- or sports-themed. 1-800-FLOWERS has one Father’s Day gift under $25: candy bar pretzels. At OhNuts.com, $25 will buy Dad a basketball, soccer ball, or football bowl of nuts. (Also in the Father’s Day basket section: pistachios in a Christmas-tree bag. But hey, for $15.95 for a pound a half, you can pass them off as any old evergreen.)
