South Korea’s 21 reactors provide nearly 40 percent of its electricity, data from 2009 shows. Still, the country plans to boost that number to 56 percent by 2020. In 2009, South Korea landed a $20 billion to build four nuclear reactors in United Arab Emirates. South Korea’s deal with the UAE is the country’s first nuclear power plant export deal, and it puts South Korea on the path to becoming a major world nuclear energy exporter.
