Two models from the Japanese automaker won top picks from the insurance institute. The 2011 Nissan Cube, a boxy urban vehicle designed to be hip with the young crowd, rated only 19 out of 32 affordable small cars by US News & World Report rated it. The publication wasn’t impressed with its power or fuel economy, but said it handles well and maneuvers easily in and out of parking spaces. When it comes to safety, however, the institute rated it one of 11 top picks in the small-car category.
