Will a theme park based on the 'Hunger Games' books become a reality? Jennifer Lawrence (l.) and Josh Hutcherson (r.) star in the films.

The Hunger Games” has already taken over bestseller lists and the multiplex. Now … a theme park?

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said the company, which is behind “The Hunger Games” movies, had received overtures about creating a theme park based around the hit franchise.

“We have been approached in two different territories about potential theme park opportunities, which gives you a sense of the cultural impact of this franchise,” he said, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “We are excited about those opportunities and are pursuing them.”

The idea seems a bit odd at first considering the theme of the books. The Hunger Games are a competition in which children must kill each other to survive and most of the population in author Suzanne Collins’ fictional world of Panem live in poverty, struggling to find enough food to eat.

Will “Hunger Games” fans soon be able to experience Collins’ world for themselves? The literary world will have to wait and see.
