Scarfone and Stillman say the four principal cast members all got along well, with actors Jack Haley and Lahr even trying to one-up each other with pranks. Haley convinced Lahr's hairdresser to give him a shock when she was curling his lion's mane, so to get back at him, Lahr had Haley's tin suit covered in tomato can stickers while Haley was napping in his costume.
