Pop singer Jewel published a book of poems called A Night Without Armor at the height of her popularity in 1999. According to The New York Times, she earned a 7-figure advance for the book, and it was on bestseller lists for weeks (despite a New Yorker review referring to it as "a fairly scary way to save our souls"). The book, however, seems to have been the end of Jewel's poetic output. Though she has since written a memoir and a children’s book, she has not released any additional poetry.
