Internet sitings
www.ebates.com
what: looking to get a little more for your online-shopping dollars? Here's a virtual mall where you can get up to 25 percent in rebates at each store.
The best parts: Ebates.com utilizes the collective buying power of its members in order to give them back a little of what they've spent.
The site makes its money on the advertising it carries; the commissions that ebates.com gets from its 300 or so online merchants go directly back to members in the form of rebates.
To register (it's free), simply click on "become a member" and fill out the questionnaire sent to you via e-mail.
What you should know: Before you can collect any rebates, you have to pay $5 each quarter to cover expenses. Also, the savings aren't always tremendous: If you buy a shirt from J.Crew you'll receive a 5 percent rebate, about enough to cancel out shipping and handling costs.
How to get there: Use the above address, or sit back and let the Work & Money site take you there: (www.csmonitor.com/workmoney)
