Before heading out on your next trip, toss a small disposable camera into your luggage or handbag.
No doubt, most travelers already take cameras with them when they visit exotic destinations. But a camera can be valuable for reasons other than recording vacation memories.
If you are involved in a car accident, you can use a camera to document the wreck, the weather at the time, missing stop signs, etc. Photographs can be valuable when it comes time to settle any insurance claims, or if you are dealing with an auto-rental firm.
When you check into a hotel room, or resort, and the accommodations are less than promised, take a photo or two. These can be included with any letter of complaint or request for restitution.
Additionally, if you purchase something you want shipped home, take a snapshot of the item, preferably with the clerk who sold it to you. Pictures can come in handy if the item you receive is not the one you purchased, or if it arrives in less than perfect condition.
