Modest achievements, worlds apart

In japan, i could state (jokingly) that I entered Tokyo University.

It's true! I went to Tokyo University - once.

My first boss in Tokyo was a Tokyo University graduate. He was an intelligent and successful businessman. I went to Tokyo U on an errand for him.

I live in New York, now. And I can say with equal honesty that I sang in Carnegie Hall.

It's true! I sang in Carnegie Hall - once.

American friends (a married couple) took me to Carnegie Hall for a concert. One of their friends was performing that night. This friend of theirs encouraged the audience to sing along with him as he sang a well-known song. Everyone sang. I sang, too!

Tokyo University is considered the finest in Japan. Carnegie Hall is, of course, Carnegie Hall. And now I can use them both in my jokes!
