No Waiting In This Line
You have a right to health - now! It doesn't depend on insurance, or funding, or medical advances. You don't have to wait for it.
But do be willing to consider a new point of view.
I read about a man who complained that he did not have access to the health care he needed. He had been immobilized for a very long time - years. No one would help him obtain the treatment that he felt would cure him.
One day he met with a physician whose response was surprising. He did not give the patient his treatment of choice. He simply said, "Get up. Walk."
The man did. What was the method or power behind those words? While the patient had been intent on submerging himself in some special water, something in that command to get up must have made him realize that the source of healing wasn't in the water after all. And he was healed immediately. (This healing is actually found in the Bible, in John 5:1-14.)
How many of us today are similarly waiting for healing? Looking for a special cure or a medical breakthrough of some sort? We can stop waiting.
The power behind the aforementioned healing, brought about by Jesus Christ, was the truth of God that healed then and heals now. And many people have found that they can understand and practice step by step this truth that Jesus practiced so fully. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," first published in 1875, is a textbook of Christian healing. It is a tool for comprehensive study of the Bible, but it is also simple enough to apply directly to the most immediate of human needs.
The final chapter of Science and Health consists of letters written to the author, Mary Baker Eddy, after the book was published.
One person wrote: "I was a great sufferer for many years from internal cancer and consumption. I was treated by the best of physicians in New York, Minneapolis, and Duluth, and was finally given up as incurable, when I heard of Christian Science. A neighbor who had been healed of consumption, kindly loaned me Science and Health ..., which I read and became interested in. In three months' time, I was healed, the truth conveyed to me by this book being the healer, and not only of these diseases, but I was made whole mentally as well. I have not been in bed one day since, or rather in eleven years" (Pgs. 610-611).
Jesus expected his followers to heal as he did, using what he had taught them. But after about 300 years, spiritual healing was largely lost from Christian tradition.
Yet spiritual power was never lost. The divine Principle of Christian healing is not a mystery or a miracle. This Principle is God, the divine Mind that makes and governs a completely spiritual and perfect creation. Disease results from the mistaken sense of life that the physical senses perceive. It's a result of the error that life is vulnerable and material, instead of God-sustained and spiritual. But the understanding God gives can wipe out this wrong belief and restore our natural health.
Health doesn't depend on waiting for a medical breakthrough. Healing truly is available to all because God is available to all.
"Mind [God] is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man" (Science and Health, Pg. 393).
For the word of God is quick,
and powerful, and sharper
than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the dividing
asunder of soul and spirit, and
of the joints and marrow, and
is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
