From Where I Live

For a week, spring air. Tulips'
green spears along the fence. Lilacs
in bud below my window. Violets,

self-sown, blooming in the lawn,
so we'll wait to mow until they're done.
Forsythia, half out, with its hint of sun.

Now, the yard's expectations - closed down.
But violets, pink or amaranthine, still show
their colors above the snow.
