Cozumel Sunset

The sun is swollen,

a circle of fire.

Now it floats,

half a papaya

in an enormous azure bowl.

It shrinks to an eyelid,

drops into the sea.

Except for a coral scarf

left behind, drifting,

the sky is an empty blue room.
