Urge US to Ratify Child Rights Convention

There is an error in the opinion-page essay ``Suffer Little Children...,'' Jan. 10. The author states that the United States has ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, the US has not even signed the convention. We should urge the administration to sign it and to submit the convention to the Senate for advice and ratification. John E. Fobes, Asheville, N.C. Editor's note: Thus far, 167 nations have signed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Only 14 countries, including the United States, have neither signed nor ratified it.
