Primetime Live (ABC, 10:00-11:00): Mel Gibson describes himself as a "dark guy with blue eyes and reasonably straight but small teeth" who sees a "pretty horrendous, fairly hideous" reflection when he looks in the mirror at 6 a.m. A humble proclamation for a man with millions of fans. Correspondent Judd Rose interviews the actor in this edition of Primetime Live. Also included in this segment: Anchor Sam Donaldson reports on more examples of Washington waste and misuse of US taxpayer dollars. SATURDAY

Elvis - The Early Years (TNT, 11:00 a.m.-5 p.m): A three-day festival of movies, miniseries, and special clips commemorates the 16th anniversary of the King's death. "Elvis Mania!" begins Saturday and continues Monday, Aug. 16 and Tuesday, Aug. 17. "Elvis - The Early Years" is a six-hour miniseries that stars Michael St. Gerard as the young Elvis Presley.

PGA Championship (TBS, 11:00 a.m., E.T., and CBS 1:30 p.m., E.T.): The golf season's final Grand Slam event is telecast live from the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

Koalas in My Backyard (PBS, 5:45-6:45 p.m.): Koalas, those dreamy-eyed, cuddly creatures from Down Under increasingly are becoming injured or orphaned as development in Australia continues. Jack Hanna, director of Ohio's Columbus Zoo, hosts this one-hour look at efforts by concerned citizens to prevent the species' extinction. SUNDAY

Saturday Night Live Sports (The Comedy Channel, 12:00-7:00 p.m.): This seven-hour marathon of Saturday Night Live episodes features sports personalities as guest hosts. Included are Wayne Gretzky, Joe Montana, Michael Jordan, and Chris Evert.

C-Span Sunday Journal (C-Span, 10-12 a.m.): The weekly two-hour video magazine surveys the week's public affairs issues and events and looks at the upcoming agenda.
