Construction worker safety is "still in the dark ages," according to a University of Buffalo report.

It found that the industry is becoming more automated and technically advanced. But worker safety has not been adequately addressed.

Construction workers sustain injuries on the job most often because they get hit by or against objects. Falls are most like to result in a fatality, according to a survey of construction accidents in New York State from 1980 to 1988.
