JAPAN TO LIFT SOUTH AFRICA SANCTIONS?

Japan will lift economic sanctions against South Africa by the end of this month, Tokyo newspapers said yesterday. But officials and diplomats say the change might take longer.According to the independent daily Asahi Shimbun, the Cabinet is to lift the sanctions once Prime Minister Toshiki Kaifu returns from the summit of leading industrial nations in London and meetings in the Hague and Brussels next week.
