COMPANY CHIEFS HOLD AN AVERAGE OF TWO OUTSIDE BOARD POSTS

Chairmen of Fortune industrial and service companies hold an average of two board seats other than that of their own company, according to a survey of 859 companies by Hedrick and Struggles, an executive search firm. The approximately 260 responding executives spent an average of 53.4 hours annually on outside board matters.
