| NEW YORK
Christie's International Plc says it had the most successful autumn season in its 222 years of fine art auctioneering. Annual sales for 1989 exceeded $2 billion, more than the total in the first five years of the 1980s.
In the autumn season, Christie's sold 115 works of art for more than $1 million, as compared with 50 in the fall of 1988.
