HURRICANE MOVES FOR BAHAMAS

Hurricane Hugo headed toward the Bahamas and the US mainland Tuesday threatening further destruction after a rampage through the Caribbean that was Puerto Rico's worst natural disaster in half a century. At least 19 people were reported killed and tens of thousands lost their homes, most of them in Puerto Rico, the most populous of a dozen islands hit by the strongest hurricane seen this decade in the eastern Caribbean, officials said.
