SALES OF BOTTLED WATER ARE UP
Bottled water sales are bubbling along in the United States. They increased by 14.9 percent to 1.5 billion last year, growing faster than any other major beverage category, according to Beverage Marketing's annual industrial survey.
Americans drank some 6.4 gallons of bottled water per capita, up from 3.4 gallons in 1983. ``It is pure, clean, and has no calories or caffeine,'' noted William Deal, spokesman for the International Bottled Water Association.
