Rev. Falwell loses libel suit, but is awarded damages
A jury Saturday found that Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt did not libel the Rev. Jerry Falwell with an ad parody. But the jury awarded the leader of the group called the Moral Majority $200,000 in compensatory and punitive damages for emotional distress. Mr. Falwell had sought $45 million.
