Israeli jets hit Lebanese bases in response to rocket firings

Israeli Air Force jets attacked Palestinian guerrilla bases in Syrian-controlled eastern Lebanon Tuesday. Police said seven people were killed and nine wounded. The raid came after the Israeli command announced that two Soviet-made Katyusha rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into Israel late Sunday. Troop withdrawal negotiations between Israel and Lebanon are under way, but the latest session on Monday bogged down in arguments over what should be done in south Lebanon once the Israelis leave. Talks are scheduled to resume tomorrow.
