Wholesale prices fall 0.2 percent in September

US wholesale prices fell 0.2 percent in September, the Labor Department reported Friday. The September decline in the producer price index was the largest monthly decrease this year, and followed a 0.1 percent decline in August.

Separately, the Commerce Department reported that retail sales rose 1.6 percent after two previous monthly declines.
