Outlays for new construction took upward blip in August

Spending on new construction rose a tiny 0.2 percent in August after two months of declines, the Commerce Department reported Monday. It said total construction spending rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $311.7 billion after a sharp drop of 1.3 percent in July and a 0.3 percent drop in June.
