Vietnam says it will free prisoners if US takes all

Vietnam will agree to a US request for release of prisoners held in ''reeducation camps'' since the end of the Vietnam war, but only if the United States takes all prisoners and not just a select few, a Vietnamese Embassy spokesman said Thursday.

The US has requested that Vietnam release about 10,000 of the prisoners over the next two years for resettlement in the US.
