Cost of average '85 GM car will rise $1,300, to $12,931

General Motors Corporation says its initial price increases for 1985 will raise the sticker price of its average car by more than $1,300, to $12,931. Meanwhile, the US unit of Nissan Motor Company said it is raising base prices by as much as $200 a car.

Pricing by the two companies is difficult to compare, because the GM figure is the dealer's cost for cars that may carry expensive extra equipment, while the Nissan figure is a suggested base retail price for autos not carrying optional equipment.
