Last Marine combat unit pulls out of Lebanon

The last US Marine combat unit in Lebanon pulled out at dawn yesterday, joining 2,000 members of their amphibious unit who had been waiting in warships offshore since February.

At the same time, US diplomats closed their temporary Beirut offices, where they have worked since terrorists destroyed the US Embassy last year, to move into new, safer quarters.
