Pravda accuses US of terrorist policy

The Communist Party daily Pravda accused the United States Wednesday of pursuing a policy of state terrorism, in a fierce attack on US activities in Central America and other areas of the third world.

The commentary cited as examples American support for rebels in Nicaragua and Afghanistan and its backing for the El Salvador government. It charged that the US had been responsible for a long series of assassinations of third-world leaders.

The article was one of the toughest attacks on Washington to appear in the Soviet press in recent months.

The Soviet Union began leveling charges of terrorism against the US after President Reagan publicly made the same accusations against the Kremlin.
