Montreal-bound train derailed in Vermont

Cleanup crews moved in early Sunday to begin clearing away the wreckage of an Amtrak passenger train that derailed while crossing a washed-out culvert, killing five people and injuring 137.

The train had been en route from Washington and New York to Montreal. Many on board were headed to Montreal for the weekend.

Flooding last month had prompted Amtrak to suspend Montrealer service through Vermont for several days because of weakened track beds.
