6 conservation groups call Reagan record 'dismal'

Six private conservation organizations accused President Reagan on Monday of compiling a ''dismal'' environmental record and of trying to dismantle agencies responsible for protecting the environment.

Signing the letter were the Sierra Club, the National Audubon Society, and Friends of the Earth, all membership organizations, and the Natural Resources Defense Council, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Environmental Policy Institute, which are smaller advocacy groups.
