Israeli officer sentenced as anti-Arab terrorist

An Israeli reserve officer was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for his role in an underground Jewish terrorist network suspected of a series of anti-Arab attacks.

Gilad Peli, a reserve infantry captain and a member of a religious settlement on the annexed Golan Heights, was the second member of the Jewish terror group sentenced.

Captain Peli pleaded guilty to charges of membership in a terrorist organization, conspiracy to commit a crime, damage to military property, and transportation of explosives. The reserve officer told the court last week he ''acted out of the conviction and belief of what was good for my people and for my country.''
