Reagan news conference may cover summitry call

President Reagan will hold a news conference Thursday night in the East Room of the White House, it was announced Tuesday. The nationally televised news conference, the 25th of his presidency, is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Mr. Reagan held his last formal news conference May 22.

The conference is expected to deal with Reagan's reaction to a proposal by Republican Sens. Howard Baker and Charles Percy that Reagan hold regular annual summit meetings with Soviet President Konstantin Chernenko. Other questions are expected to focus on the President's Central American policy, the economy and politics.
