Israel and Syria holding pullout talks, paper says
Israel and Syria are holding secret talks about a joint withdrawal of their armies from Lebanon, according to intelligence sources quoted by the Maariv newspaper Tuesday. But a government official who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed there ''is nothing to'' the Maariv report.
Maariv quoted unidentified intelligence sources in London as saying Israel and Syria are likely to reach agreement soon on pulling their armies out of Lebanon.
Maariv quoted its sources as saying the talks, which started at Israel's initiative, are also dealing with a possible exchange of prisoners of war.
