Siege of Libyan embassy ends as men leave Britain
British diplomats arrived from Tripoli Saturday as 30 men from the Libyan embassy in Britain flew home, peacefully ending the 11-day siege here. Through surveillance equipment, police discovered the identity of the man who fired at protesters outside the Libyan embassy, killing a British policewoman, British newspapers said. The suspect reportedly received safe passage out of the country.
Frustrated by restrictions of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic behavior, the British government is said to be taking preliminary steps toward possible revision of the 23-year-old pact.
