Israel angered over entry by Egypt into embassy row

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has protested angrily to Egypt over its break in diplomatic relations with El Salvador, a ministry spokesman said Sunday. Egypt broke relations with both El Salvador and Costa Rica Saturday because they moved their embassies to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.

Egypt's decision followed a call from the Islamic Conference Organization, which met in Fez, Morocco, last week, for all Moslem countries to break relations with the two Central American countries.

The decision to boycott the two Central American nations is mostly symbolic, because few Arab or Islamic states have relations with El Salvador and Costa Rica, conference sources said.
